
Two Cars, BC Transit Bus Collide in Downtown Binghamton
At least two people were taken to hospitals after a crash involving a BC Transit bus and two cars in Binghamton.
The collision at Chenango and Lewis streets happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Two Toyota sedans and a bus were damaged in the crash. The cars sustained significant damage. The front portion of the bus appeared to have minor damage.
The bus was traveling south on Chenango Street, approaching the Lewis Street intersection near the Kilmer Building.
It was not known whether there were any passengers in the cars or how many people were riding in the bus.
Binghamton police directed traffic around the crash scene. City fire department medics evaluated those who had been in the vehicles.
Two women were transported to hospitals by ambulances for what appeared to be minor injuries.
The crash occurred one block north of the Binghamton bus terminal.
According to a statement released by the Broome County Department of Public Transportation, no passengers on the bus reported injuries. Another bus was dispatched to take the passengers to their destinations. The bus driver was not ticketed.
The department plans to conduct a "standard accident review."
