Two Candidates Already in Republican Race for 122 Assembly District

The former Police Chief in Norwich says he wants to fill the 122^nd New York State Assembly seat that will be open when Republican Clifford Crouch retires this year. 

Joe Angelino announced he would be running on the Republican Party ticket January 27, the same day businessman and Lyme Disease support group coordinator Nick Libous announced he would be running as a Republican.

Assemblyman Crouch has confirmed he will not seek reelection, saying he has “reached a point in his life” where his priority is spending time with his family.  Crouch has served on the Assembly for two-dozen years after succeeding Clarence Rappleyea in the post.

Angelino became Chief of Police in Norwich, a year after Crouch began serving in the Assembly.

Angelino is a combat veteran, who served 23 years in the Marine Corps and was twice wounded in Iraq.

Libous, a son of late State Senator Thomas Libous, launched his second bid for the 122^nd Assembly seat July 27.  He previously lost the Republican primary to Crouch and continued to run as a Conservative, losing in the General Election.
