Near-peak colors are expected on trees in some parts of New York state over the next few days.

For people who enjoy the autumn tradition of leaf peeping, the best places to explore this week will be in the Adirondacks.

Leaves on many trees in the Twin Tiers have started to change color but the peak displays may be a week or two away.

Spotters expect the color change in the Binghamton area will be above 25 percent by this weekend.

Maple trees in the northern zone of Pennsylvania, which includes Susquehanna and Bradford counties, should display their best colors over the next week or so.

Regular rainfall and optimal growing conditions occurred over the spring and summer months, so foresters are expecting potentially "spectacular" displays across the region in the coming month.
