Trucker Charged With DWI After Kirkwood Crash
An Illinois man has been accused of driving while intoxicated following a rollover crash on Route 17 in the town of Kirkwood.
Authorities say 37-year-old Pawel Falkowski of Chicago was arrested after the crash, which happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
State police say Falkowski refused to take a breath test. He faces DWI and other traffic counts in connection with the crash.
Falkowski was arraigned before a Kirkwood town judge, who ordered him held at Broome County Jail.
Troopers say both eastbound lanes of the highway were blocked by the wreckage. A section of Route 17 was closed for more than an hour until crews cleared the expressway.
