Authorities say a Broome County woman was found dead after a fire in her home.

The blaze at 1082 Route 369 in the town of Fenton was reported around 6:30 p.m. January 9.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, the woman was discovered by firefighters. They were not able to revive her.

81 year old June Talbot was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Broome County Bureau of Fire Investigators sat the fire was caused by smoking materials igniting a couch.

An autopsy determined Talbot died as a result of smoke inhalation.
