The owner of an independent construction business in Hawleyton is dead following an accident on his property.

Town of Binghamton Supervisor Timothy Whitesell says Anthony Gawlinski was well known in the community.  He was killed after becoming pinned between equipment while apparently loading a skid steer onto a trailer at around 9:50 a.m. May 8 at his home and business headquarters on Hawleton Road.

The investigation is continuing but authorities say the incident has been ruled an accident.

Broome County Sheriff, New York State Police, fire personnel and the Broome ambulance squad responded to the scene.

Hawleyton Road was reduced a lane for a time while emergency responders worked at the scene.
