A Tioga Center man is guilty of manslaughter in the stabbing death of his housemate in October of last year.

A Tioga County jury deliberated only about an hour into the second day of considering the evidence in 63 year old Douglas Every’s murder trial before coming back with a verdict of guilty on first degree manslaughter but not guilty of murder and evidence tampering in the death of 39 year old Milton Jump.

Every called emergency officials the night of the stabbing and was found standing in front of the house the two men shared.  Jump was found dead in the kitchen.

Every had claimed self defense after admitting stabbing Jump following a night of drinking.

Every is due to be sentenced January 30th.  He faces up to 25 years in prison.
