Officials are investigating the cause of a fire at a North Side, Binghamton apartment house that has displaced five residents.

Binghamton Firefighters were called to the Cary Street building at 12:57 a.m. December 21 and were back at their fire stations at around 5 a.m.

Flames had been seen on the first floor. Assistant Fire Chief Steven Faughnan says the blaze began in the first floor front apartment which was “pretty much destroyed.”  Faughnan says firefighters faced challenges working around Christmas trees and decorations.

There were three apartments in the building.

No one was injured.
