Binghamton police say a youth was hurt when he was attacked during what may have been a drug deal gone bad.

The incident happened in the area of Henry Street around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say the teenage boy sustained what appeared to be minor injuries when he was slashed. It was not immediately known whether a knife or some other object was used in the attack.

The youth was evaluated by Binghamton fire medics on Henry Street just east of Chenango Street, across from the county DMV office.

The boy reportedly was taken to Binghamton General Hospital for treatment of a wound to his right wrist.

Police believe he was attacked during what was described as a "drug ripoff."

Officers initially were looking for two people who were believed to have been involved in the incident. No arrests have been reported in the case.
