Police arrested a 17-year-old shooting suspect after taking him into custody at his residence on Binghamton's West Side.

Authorities say Quali Graves of 93 Chapin Street has been charged with second-degree attempted murder.

Investigators say they believe Graves shot 29-year-old Eric Cureton on Memorial Day at an East Side apartment complex. Cureton was shot in the torso during a confrontation involving two groups of men at Carlisle Hills Apartments on Moeller Street.

Detectives say Graves was arrested Friday. He was arraigned in Binghamton city court and sent to Broome County Jail.

Police say Cureton is recovering from the injuries sustained in the shooting.

Investigators believe a drive-by shooting that happened at 1216 Vestal Avenue several hours Cureton was wounded is linked to the first incident. No arrests have been made in the Vestal Avenue case.
