Construction has started on a major project at a Maine-Endwell School District building that will provide more air conditioning and additional classroom space.

Only three months after it went online, a new solar facility next to a school in the town of Maine was generating some concern from nearby residents.

The Maine-Endwell School District has plugged its new solar array into the grid and the system is generating electricity.

Residents of the Maine-Endwell school district will vote next week on a $16.8 million capital project proposal. The district is planning to make renovations to the Homer Brink and Maine Memorial elementary schools.
