Fish Fry

Whenever I go home to visit my family, if it was a Friday evening in wintertime, dinner would be at the local American Legion for the weekly fish fry.

I asked on our Facebook page, where people go to pick up or dine in for a fish fry dinner in the Southern Tier area, and I got back quite a few responses.

It's true. Upstate New York has a language all its own and these are just some of our favorite words and phrases.
