A Broome County jury deliberated about eight hours Friday, November 19 before finding 44-year-old Scott Mawhiney guilty of attempted first degree murder.
The New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association says it is "outraged" a man indicted on charges he tried to kill a trooper has been set free on bail.
Scott Mawhiney pleaded not guilty to a nine-count indictment in Broome County Court in connection with the shooting of Trooper Ryan Thorp in Deposit in June.
