Binghamton Bearcat outfielder Sydney Harbaugh has been named the America East  Softball Player of the Year.  Harbaugh is fourth in batting average in the conference with an overall .376 average.  She has driven in 31 runs with an on-base percentage of .442.  In conference games she is batting at a .465 clip which leads America East.

Several other Bearcats also received honors.  Named to the America East first all-star team in addition to Harbaugh were second baseman Jessica Bump and first baseman Lisa Cadogan.  Second team honors went to pitcher Demi Laney and catcher Taylor Chaffee.

Bump, from Windsor High School and outfielder Colleen Dougherty earned all-academic honors.  Three Bearcats were named to the AE All-Rookie team.  Outfielders Gabby Bracchi and Bridget Hunt along with third baseman Crysti Eichner were freshmen selections.

The Bearcats are playing Albany in the opening round of the America East tournament this afternoon.  Binghamton is a third-seed while the Great Danes locked up the second spot.  The tournament is being held at Stony Brook.  The Seawolves captured the regular season championship.
