SWAT Team Used in Binghamton Drug Raid
Residents of a Binghamton neighborhood watched as a SWAT team was deployed as police conducted a daytime drug raid.
Two people face several felony counts after investigators seized heroin, cocaine and marijuana found in a two-family house in the First Ward.
Authorities say 33-year-old Tyrell Bailey and 26-year-old Shatiffa Griffin were taken into custody shortly after 2 p.m. Friday.
Police say they confiscated about one-and-a-half ounces of unpackaged heroin and 77 bags of heroin packaged for sale. They also found crack cocaine, powder cocaine and marijuana.
About $1,500 in suspected drug sale proceeds was discovered in the residence.
Bailey and Griffin each were charged with five counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. They also were charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Bailey had been wanted on Binghamton police warrants for assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or circulation.
Bailey and Griffin were arraigned in Binghamton city court and sent to Broome County Jail.
