Susquehanna Transcript Building Comes Down, Fire Still Investigated
The investigation is continuing into a big fire that destroyed a 100-year-old news operation a month ago even as the building comes down.
The blaze at the Susquehanna County Transcript newspaper building on Exchange Street broke out at around 9:30 p.m. on September 2 and tore through the historic building.
Fire companies from the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania and Broome County joined Susquehanna battling the blaze.
There had been no reports of injuries but the building was a total loss.
Demolition of the brick structure began October 2, but New York State Fire Marshal investigators still have not reported a cause for the fire..
