Susquehanna and Wayne Counties to “Turn Yellow” for Reopening
Another 2.6 million people across Pennsylvania are emerging from some strict pandemic restrictions as Governor Tom Wolf announced that 12 more counties will soon join them in a partial easing, including two remaining Northern Tier counties.
Wolf announced May 15 that effective May 22, Susquehanna, Wayne, Adams, Beaver, Carbon, Columbia, Cumberland, Juniata, Mifflin, Perry,Wyoming, and York will be the next batch of counties moving to the “yellow” phase of his reopening plan.
That means the governor's stay-at-home orders are to be lifted and retailers and other types of businesses may reopen with restrictions regarding social distancing and wearing face masks. Restaurants and bars will still be restricted to curbside and takeout service.
Meanwhile, as many as 2,000 protesters descended on the state Capitol in Harrisburg May 15 to demand that Wolf reopen the state's battered economy more quickly.
