Suspected Toolbox Thief is Accused of Hitting K-Mart Worker

Cortland County Sheriff's officials say a man is accused of trying to steal four Craftman toolbox sets from the K-Mart store on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville when he was approached by a store employee.

Authorities say 30 year old Chad Cain then allegedly hit the employee in the face and body with the toolboxes before fleeing.

Cain was located nearby and charged with felony counts of robbery, criminal contempt, assault and criminal possession of a weapon along with misdemeanor petit larceny.

Sheriff's Deputies say the store Loss Prevention Manager was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital and released.
