Professor Douglas Garnar says this will be the third time the event has been held.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Garnar said the workshop aims to entice people who have "even the remotest interest" in running for public office to discover what's needed to make that happen.

Garnar said some people who've participated in past workshops wound up winning elections after they decided to run.

Portions of the upcoming workshop will focus on the use of the Internet and social media in campaigning.

The workshop is to be held March 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be held in Room 101 of Titchener Hall.

People interested in registering for the workshop may call 607.778.5094, although Garnar said advance registration is not necessary.
