Broome County Sheriff's officials say at around 11:45 p.m. June 29, a Deputy was in his marked car on Front Street in the City of Binghamton helping a motorist whose vehicle had broken down when a 2005 Dodge on Route 11 sideswiped the squad car, hitting the rear quarter panel with the passenger side mirror of his vehicle.
43 year old Tiko Gray of Painted Post was found to have a revoked license and a previous DWI arrest in the last ten years. He also didn't have a required ignition interlock device. Authorities Gray performed poorly on a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for drunk driving.
Gray is charged with felony counts of aggravated unlicensed operation, aggravated DWI and DWI with a conviction in the preceding 10 years as well as lesser counts of failure to use an ignition interlock device, moving from a lane unsafely, failure to use due care when approaching an emergency vehicle and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
He was sent to the Broome County Jail on $1,000 bail. Gray's vehicle was towed from the scene.
