STAC has suspended athletics until January.  According to a statement from the conference, a condensed fall, winter, spring model will be followed with Season 1 winter sports January 4 to March 13, fall sports March 1 through May 8 and spring sports April 5 through June 12, providing everything isn’t canceled due to a new outbreak of the pandemic.

STAC Executive Director Kevin McGoff issued a statement over the weekend regarding the decision, which came on the heels of the Interscholastic Athletic Conference move on Friday, September 11 to postpone the Fall 2020 sports Season until March.

Last week (September 9), the New York State Public High School Athletic Association announced high-risk sports like football, volleyball and team cheerleading would be postponed until March 1.

In addition to the overall concern about the health and safety of student athletes, McGoff cited logistics like transporting students and the possibility of a resurgence of the virus in the fall as contributing to the decision to postpone.
