Speed is believed to have contributed to a crash in Bradford County, Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon that claimed the life of a passenger in the car that was involved.

State Police say that shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 20-year-old Tyler Molyneux of Canton was traveling east on Southside Road in Leroy Township when it failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and left the roadway.  The vehicle then struck a tree head-on.

Troopers say that neither Molyneaux or his passenger, 20-year-old Nicklas Bernat of Troy were wearing their seat belts.  Molyneux suffered major injuries while Bernat was pronounced dead at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

The investigation is continuing.
