The Michigan State Spartans proved too much to handle from start to finish December 5 as they clobbered the Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team 76-33 at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan Saturday in front of an announced crowd of 14.797.  The Spartans scored on the opening possession of the game and rolled to a 41-12 lead at the half.

The Bearcats shot just 12.9 percent from the field in the first half and 16.7 percent for the entire game.  BU made just 12 shots overall including 2-17 from three-point range.  Michigan State hit on 47.6 percent of their shots from the field and 27 per cent from beyond the arc.

Although at game-time Michigan State was ranked third in the nation the Spartans are expected to take over the number one spot in the new poll at the end of the weekend.  In essence the Bearcats were playing against the nation's top men's team.

Only one Bearcat scored double figures.  Sophomore Justin McFadden notched 10 points while America East's leading scorer, Willie Rodriguez hit for six points.  The Spartans played 14 players with Bryn Forbes leading the way with 14 points.

The Bearcats remain on the road to face the the Horizon League's Oakland University Golden Grizzlies on Monday night.  Tip is scheduled for 7:00 PM with air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
