Fans of locally crafted beer, wines and spirits have a new opportunity to sample all the Southern Tier has to offer.

Many visitors to the Finger Lakes are aware of the numerous wineries and cideries along the lakeshores, but there are plenty of small operations elsewhere in the Southern Tier and Central New York who are churning out spirits, including beer, wine and even hand-crafted whiskey in Binghamton.

Organizers of the Southern Tier Craft Beverage Trail say the new event has more options closer to home for Twin Tiers residents.

Passports available at any of the breweries, wineries or distilleries are a fun way to keep track of visits with a completed passport good to be sent in for a unique trail t-shirt.

Of course, besides quenching the thirst of beverage aficionados, the effort is also a boost to small businesses that are participating.

Most of the businesses being featured in the new Southern Tier Craft Beverage Trail are breweries offering a wide selection of beers and ales but hard cider, wine and spirits are also available.
