New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the number of reported coronavirus deaths in New York has shot up by 253 in a single day from his update at noon March 29 to just over 1,200 March 30. Overall cases in the state are reported at 66,497, up by 6.984 since March 29.

Broome County reports 32 cases, six of them new.  Chenango County reports two new cases, bringing the total to 17, Cortland County also reports two new cases, bringing their total to 8.  Delaware County has 11 cases, three of those new.  Onondaga County and the Syracuse area is reporting 180 cases, adding 28 cases Sunday night, Tioga County had no new reported cases with the confirmed number of COVID-19 cases remaining at four and Tompkins County reported 14 new cases, bringing the Finger Lakes county’s number to 66.

A Navy hospital ship has arrived in New York City to help relieve the coronavirus crisis gripping New York City's hospitals. The USNS Comfort has 1,000 beds and 12 operating rooms that could be up and running within 24 hours of its arrival Monday morning.

It's expected to bolster a besieged health care system by treating non-coronavirus patients while hospitals treat people with COVID-19.

Governor Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and others are criticizing President Donald Trump for suggesting with no clear evidence that thousands of medical masks are disappearing from New York City hospitals.
