Made up of hundreds of individual food banks, Feeding America is the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States and now, the non-profit is getting a major financial boost from a business located right here in the Southern Tier.

Norwich based Chobani has announced that they have released a special limited-edition flavor of Greek yogurt with 100 percent of the proceeds from the special flavor yogurt sold being given directly to Feeding America.

The limited-edition flavor is peanut butter and jelly and is being called ''Food Bank Batch." Chobani describes the yogurt as "Strawberry low-fat Greek Yogurt layered with creamy peanut butter."  100 percent of the profits from each four-pack of Food Bank Batch will be given to Feeding America.

Feeding America explains, "37 million people face hunger in the U.S. today — including more than 11 million children and nearly 5.4 million seniors. Hunger knows no boundaries — it touches every community in the U.S., including your own."

Giving back to food banks is at the core of Chobani and the company has been quite generous through the years Peter McGuinness, president of Chobani explained why the company feels so strongly about supporting Feeding America and food banks saying, "...They are beacons of hope and humanity, and they need our help more than ever given their communities need them more than ever.”
