An effort to assist fledgling businesses has opened an office in downtown Binghamton.

The Agency, which had been known as the Broome County Industrial Development Agency, will oversee the small business incubator.

A grand opening event was held Thursday afternoon at the newly-opened office, which is at 59 Court Street.

The Agency last January assumed operations of what had been the Greater Binghamton Innovation Center. That facility had been located a few blocks from the new site.

Stacey Duncan of The Agency said some of those involved in the previous operation have been relocated.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Duncan said the new space may be better suited for young entrepreneurs. She said there is flexible, open, collaborative office space, along with some private office space.

Duncan said small businesses that utilize the site may be eligible for the Start-Up New York program.
