U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand are becoming some of the highest-ranking Democrats calling for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to step down as he is being investigated for allegedly sexually harassing now seven women and failing to accurately report the number of COVID deaths in nursing homes.

The Democratic Senators from New York question Cuomo’s ability to effectively lead the state while under investigation and as public confidence in the administration appears to wane.

The Senators issued statements together on Friday evening, March 12, saying “it is clear that Governor Cuomo has lost the confidence of his governing partners and the people of New York."

Several other notable Democrats both in State government and Congress have questioned Cuomo’s ability to do his job while under investigation, many calling the allegations “credible”.

Cuomo is still maintaining he did nothing wrong and refuses to resign.  The three-term Governor is asking New Yorkers to let the investigation play out.
