Senator Akshar Hosts Town Hall, Talks Deal Breaker on Southern Tier Close Up
New York State Senator Fred Akshar is hosting his first Virtual Town Hall meeting of 2021 February 22.
The Binghamton Republican had held listening sessions in person pre-pandemic and continued the Town Hall tradition vial online platforms last year.
Akshar says the February 22 session is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will address state business including the current coronavirus pandemic.
Residents should go to akshar.nysenate.gov to register. A member of the Senator’s staff will be in contact with information on how to join the meeting.
You can hear more about Senator Akshar’s work in Albany and how the past year with the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the dynamics of the politics in the state this Saturday, February 27 on the weekly, local public affairs program: Southern Tier Close Up. The Senator talks about policing, his current community survey that’s underway and what is done with information collected in those surveys and at Town Hall meetings like the ones scheduled for February 22 and March 1 (also at 6:30 p.m.).
He even reveals the “deal breaker” issue he won’t budge on, even if it would cost him an election.
Southern Tier Close Up is heard Saturday at 6:03 a.m. on News Radio 1290, WNBF and anytime on the WNBF podcast.
