Part of Route 17 in Tioga County is open again after crews hustled to make repairs to damage caused by flash flooding last month.

The New York State Department of Transportation says one lane in each direction on the highway is open between Nichols and Lounsberry but crews are continuing to make repairs.

DOT officials said they worked hard with contractors to get materials on site and repairs done to handle increased traffic from race activities at Watkins Glen.

Drivers, again, are advised that repair work is continuing and there could be slow-moving traffic and sudden stops in the area.
