Just because it's September, that doesn't mean local road work and construction season is over. Far from it.

On September 2nd, I wrote an article with the latest update, which you can see HERE. But some new additions and things have just popped up that you will want to be aware of, if you plan on traveling through these local areas. Here's the latest:

Johnson City

According to the Village of Johnson City:
Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Floral Avenue will be one-lane traffic between Ackley Avenue and North Baldwin Street for water valve replacement.
The Village is asking motorists to seek alternative routes. There will be flaggers and traffic personnel on site to assist local traffic.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Friday, September 5th, Village Crews will be working on a Road Pavement project on Oakdale Road beginning at the Intersection of Harry L. Drive,  continuing to the intersection of Robinson Hill Road.
The Village notes that all parked cars will need to be removed from the roadway during this process. Temporary no-parking signs will be in place, and one lane of travel will remain open while work is active. Expect delays, and loose stone on the roadway is possible for the next several weeks.

Interstate 86 Apalachin

Today (September 3, 2025), the New York State Department of Transportation announced that the Exit 66 on-ramp from State Route 434 to Interstate 86 in Apalachin will be closed between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 4th, for paving operations.

A signed detour will be in place, directing motorists to take State Route 434 east to State Route 26 north, back to Interstate 86 at Exit 67.

Please slow down and drive responsibly in these work zones. The New York State Department of Transportation notes that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver's license. Let's keep our road and highway workers safe...slow down and move over for highway workers.
