IDG Benefits Funds is providing free flu shots for Uber, Lyft and other approved car service drivers in New York State.

Drivers can sign up for a Rite Aid pharmacy voucher at driversbenefits.org/flu or by calling 1-855-979-1445 now through November 30.

The IDG Benefits Fund is a sister organization of the Independent Driver’s Guild, which is affiliated with the Machinists’ Union.

Black Car Services drivers who are not enrolled in the benefits program would go to the website to enroll while those already on the plan should call the phone number to get their Rite Aid voucher.

Meanwhile, more information about the flu, in general, can be heard Saturday at 12:15 p.m. on the Southern Tier Close Up.  Broome County Health Department nurse educator Maryanne Yourden talks about what’s expected this season as far as the strain of flu and the availability of the vaccine so far.  She also talks about progress in finding a single, one-time shot that someday may cover influenza much like single vaccines can prevent diseases like the measles.
