Residents Snap Up New Broome Vaccine Appointments
While the minimum age to be eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccination in New York State has dropped again, there is still an issue with supplies of Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines making it to local clinics.
Starting today, New Yorkers over the age of 30 will be able to sign up for a shot. The previous cut-off had been 50 and older. Governor Andrew Cuomo also announced on March 29 that everyone over 16 will be eligible starting next week.
The challenge is still being able to find an appointment. Broome County’s new clinics for this Friday, April 2 and next Monday, April 5 and Tuesday, April 6 announced over the weekend are booked up. You can be placed on a waiting list in case someone cancels at gobroomecounty.com. There is also a link on the county website to New York State’s vaccination scheduling site.
County officials remind residents that being on the waiting list does not guarantee an appointment and it is always good to check back with the website frequently for any new clinics that could be added at the SUNY Broome Ice Center POD without prior notice.
