Construction workers have been busy with repairs and updating work at the historic former railroad station in downtown Binghamton.

The Lackawanna Train Station property on Lewis Street was acquired by a local group in the spring of 2012. The site is adjacent to NYSEG Stadium.

Binghamton developer Mark Yonaty told WNBF News crews initially focused on replacing a heating system and making improvements to the building lobby.

Yonaty says a retaining wall in front of the former station has been replaced.

The entire second floor of the building has been gutted and roof rafters are being repaired.

Among the businesses now in the Lackawanna Train Station are Ad Elements and Southern Tier HealthLink.
