Both candidates in the race for New York State's 22nd District Congressional Seat have responded via tweet to a developing situation in Washington DC of protestors storming the United State Capitol Building.

Per CBS News and several other news outlets, the Capitol Building was evacuated Wednesday afternoon, halting a session of Congress where Vice President Mike Pence and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to fall in line with assertions by President Trump to reject the states' electoral votes for President-Elect Joe Biden. The building was evacuated after a humongous crowd of pro-Trump protestors reportedly broke through police barricades and stormed the Capitol.

Just before 4:30 p.m.. President Trump posted a video to his Twitter account, telling protestors to go home and called for peace, while reasserting the election fraud claims he has been touting for months.
