The New York State Department of Transportation planned to close the Interstate 81 South bridge over the Chenango between Front Street and the Port Dickinson exit at night January 7-11.

The DOT says elevated river levels have postponed the work until further notice.

Construction crews will be installing steel bridge girders for the new Route 17 East Flyover Bridge once conditions allow.

When the work resumes, motorists will find signs detouring traffic around the closure from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Again, the work is delayed for now.
