Broome County Executive Jason Garnar says extra steps are being taken at the polls this primary day to ensure the health and safety of voters and poll workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Garnar says there are distancing markers to keep people 6 feet apart, voters and workers have to wear masks, there are table shields separating people and frequent cleaning of touch-points. 

There are fewer polling places open for this primary across New York State and its expected thousands of ballots will be arriving at boards of elections over the next several days as many voters are opting to skip physically going to polling locations.
