The supermarket chain, which operates a store in Vestal, announced that Colonna Brothers initiated the recall because the spice was found to contain undeclared peanuts.

People who are allergic to peanuts or who have a severe sensitivity to peanuts could face a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product.

The recall affects Price Rite brandground cumin in a three-ounce bottle with a best buy date of November 18, 2016.

Price Rite spokeswoman Karen Meleta says people who bought the spice should return it to the store for a refund or replacement. No injuries linked to the undeclared peanuts have been reported.

Customers may contact Price Rite at 877.352.8850.
