Press & Sun-Bulletin Moving to Mail Delivery

Many long-time Press & Sun-Bulletin subscribers are receiving some bad news: Their home delivery service is ending.

The Binghamton newspaper is the latest Gannett publication to begin relying on the U.S. Postal Service for delivery.

An Endwell customer received a notice in the mail advising him that the change will begin this week.

According to the letter, there is "a possibility that your newspaper will not arrive the same day that it is published."

The notice indicated "we will make every effort to have your Sunday publication delivered via the Monday mail."

A Conklin woman who has subscribed to the paper for more than four decades said her notice said the change for her delivery would start October 5.

The woman told WNBF News she's not pleased with the elimination of the traditional morning delivery of the Press & Sun-Bulletin.

She said "I'm a person that has to have today's newspaper to hold in my hand" to read with her morning coffee.

Local Press & Sun-Bulletin representatives are not permitted to speak with reporters about the newspaper. But a corporate spokesperson emailed a statement indicating the change "affects only a small number of subscribers and is intended to ensure more reliable delivery."

The company would not reveal how many customers will continue to receive morning delivery.

Several dozen Gannett papers have switched to delivery by the postal service over the last few years.

The Elmira Star-Gazette made the change in July 2023. The Ithaca Journal moved to mail-only delivery in December 2021.

The Press & Sun-Bulletin and other Gannett newspapers now are printed in New Jersey.

The company closed its Johnson City production facility in June 2018. The $50 million printing plant operated for only 12 years.
