Broome-Tioga BOCES and a company in Spencer that mixes, develops and packages dry foods like pancake mixes are among 66 businesses, educational facilities and organizations getting money to develop the workforce for the post-COVID economy in New York.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says the groups will share close to $9-million in Workforce Development Initiative funds. 

The federally-funded grants will support job training opportunities for an expected 3,600 residents to develop skills they would need to adapt to work requirements following the pandemic. 

Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, who chairs the statewide Regional Economic Development Counsels says job training is more important now to, in the terms of the administration: “Build Back Better.” 

Companies named in the funding include the Alstom SA rail transportation system in Hornell, Ithaca-based developer of software for automation in the healthcare industry: Data Bound Solutions and Raymond Hadley Corporation of Spencer that develops, blends, packages and manufactures dry foods for other companies of all sizes.
