Port Crane Woman Charged With DWI With Baby in Car
A Port Crane woman is accused of driving while under the influence with her three-month-old baby, who was having a medical issue, in the vehicle.
A Broome County Corrections Division van was hit in the parking lot of the Starbucks on Upper Front Street across from SUNY Broome Community College shortly before 2:30 p.m. February 4by a vehicle backing out of a parking spot.
The Corrections officer called for assistance and while waiting for Deputies, the driver backed out of the parking space again and hit the corrections van a second time before fleeing the scene.
Sheriff’s Deputies say 34-year-old Lori French was found a short time later slumped over the steering wheel on Old Front Street. The baby was taken for medical care and released to a family member.
French is charged with felony Aggravated DWI with a child under the age of 16 and a prior conviction in 10 years, felony Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs with two prior convictions in 10 years, an infraction of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
