Popular Vestal Restaurant Opens in New Location
A beloved Broome County restaurant that was forced out of its original site because of a big redevelopment project has found a new home.
Fuji San Japanese restaurant closed its doors at 4105 Vestal Parkway East four weeks ago.
The business had been located at the Quality Inn hotel for more than two decades. The property has been sold and the building will be demolished to make way for construction of a massive apartment complex.
A handwritten note to customers posted in the entrance of Fuji San stated that "while this is a difficult farewell, we are actively seeking a new location to serve you."
Fuji San has set up operations less than two miles west of its previous location.
The restaurant now is situated in a plaza at 100 Rano Boulevard. The spot had been used by Wok's Chinese restaurant since 2006.
A Fuji San employee said the restaurant opened at the new location on Saturday. He said it will operate seven days a week.
Fuji San has set up a new website for customers to place orders for pickup or delivery.
The website promises fresh sushi, hot ramen and other favorites "now at a new convenient location."
