Police Release Identity in Binghamton Death Investigation
Detectives say the body found on Binghamton's West Side was that of a city woman who had been reported missing weeks ago.
A man who lived nearby discovered the body Sunday afternoon as he was walking along the Susquehanna River, between Avon Road and Laurel Avenue. The scene was a short distance east of Lourdes Hospital.
Binghamton firefighters helped to remove the body.
City police Tuesday announced an autopsy had been completed. They said the body was identified as Susan Wayman.
The 72-year-old woman was reported missing on January 27. She had last been seen outside 290 Front Street.
Investigators said they have determined Wayman's death was non-criminal in nature.
