The treasurer of a Chenango County volunteer fire department has been accused of stealing more than $10,000.

Authorities say 25-year-old Andrew Cushman of Plymouth has been charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

State police investigated a report of stolen money from the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department on State Route 23.

Police say it was determined money had been stolen from the department's bank accounts.

Cushman was arraigned in Plymouth town court and released.
