Police Investigate Shooting Incident Near Binghamton Plaza
Binghamton police were called to the city's North Side after several gunshots were fired.
The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. Thursday on Morgan Street in a neighborhood a short distance from the Binghamton Plaza.
City police officers and Broome County sheriff's deputies sealed off a block between Chenango Street and Moffatt Avenue.
A woman who lives near the scene said she heard more than three gunshots. She said an eastbound vehicle then sped down Morgan Street before turning onto Brandywine Street.
The woman said moments later, some people - including a man with a baseball bat - got into a van and drove from the scene.
Detective Captain Cory Minor said the gunshots were fired outside. He would not comment on the number of shots or on any evidence investigators have recovered.
