
Police Investigate Serious Assault on Binghamton’s West Side
One person reportedly was seriously hurt in an assault in a neighborhood on the West Side of Binghamton.
Police were called to Walnut Street just north of Main Street around 2:30 p.m. Friday. The scene is three blocks west of Binghamton High School.
Initial reports indicated a man may have sustained a head injury in the incident.
Several police patrol vehicles and detective units rushed to the scene.
The injured person was treated by medics in a Binghamton Fire Department ambulance before being transported to a hospital.
Uniform officers and investigators were questioning people at a large apartment house at 80 Walnut Street, which is located next to American Legion Post 80.
Two people - a man and a woman - were observed handcuffed at the scene.
Walnut Street between Main and North streets was closed for the police investigation.
