Pepsi Beverages Company will lay off 74 people when it closes its warehouse operation on Binghamton's East Side.

The Broad Avenue facility is scheduled to close by November 15.

Pepsi filed a notice announcing the job cuts with the New York State Department of Labor.

The Pepsi operation has been a fixture in Binghamton for several decades.

Times have been tough for people employed by major soft drink companies in Broome County.

Binghamton Coca-Cola Bottling Company shut down its East Side operation in late 2008 as part of a consolidation move. More than 60 people lost their jobs when that facility closed.
