Pennsylvania is looking for a private partner to develop compressed natural gas fueling stations at transit agencies around the Keystone State that would also be available to the public.

PennDOT officials say the move follows the Pennsylvania Public Private Partnership Board’s approval of the development of the fueling stations.

The selected private partner would design, build, finance, operate and maintain CNG filling stations for up to 37 transit facilities.

PennDOT is also to enter into a supply contract with the private partner as well as purchase agreements.

PennDOT would get a portion of the sales revenue with that money being divided up among the transit agencies to help pay for future capital projects.

PennDOT will release a Request for Qualifications to solicit interested parties to submit proposals early next year with a selection mad in summer of 2015.
