Pastor Reports Vandalism at Church on Binghamton’s West Side
The leader of a Binghamton church says he's concerned about a series of incidents that have occurred over the past month or so.
Bishop Larry Simpson, senior pastor of New Heights Ministries International on the city's West Side, said wooden handrails have been removed twice at a walkway near the church entrance.
Simpson said caution tape that's been placed to restrict access near the ramp has repeatedly been torn down outside the building at Front Street and Riverside Drive.
New Heights Ministries has been located at the site for the past 15 years. Although there was a vandalism incident a few years ago, the pastor said there had been no other problems until recently.
Simpson said he made a report about the vandalism with Binghamton police Wednesday. He said officers indicated they would be patrolling the area more frequently.
