A Binghamton man has been arrested following a daytime burglary at a home in the city's First Ward.

Authorities say 23-year-old Dane Search of Mather Street was taken into custody by police officers on Baxter Street.

Police were called to an apartment house on Hazel Street around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday for a burglary in progress.

The burglar reportedly had illegally entered a second-floor apartment. He fled just before officers arrived.

Search was found about four blocks away from the burglary scene. Police say he had items taken from the apartment in his possession.

Investigators say an arrest warrant had been issued for Search because he was a parole absconder.

Search was charged with second-degree burglary and unlawful possession of marijuana. He also is being charged for a parole violation.
